TARIFF CONFERENCE.
NEW ZEALAND'S ATTITUDE. (BT CABLE—PRES3 ASSOCIATION—COPXRIGHT), (AUSTRALIAN AMD N.Z. AND SVN CABLE.) GENEVA, Octol>er 24. Bir Granville Ryrie (Australian High Commissioner), addressing the Plenary Session on behalf of New Zealand, said he had been authorised by the New Zealand Government to state that New Zealand was favourably disposed to adhering to the agreement for the abolition of import and export prohibitions and restrictions, subject to the exceptions -enumerated in the draft agreement, which were based on such considerations as were necessary' for protecting revenue. x New Zealand also considered thai/ prohibitions should be permitted f° r the purpose of conserving supplies for the use of countries of production, or for the purpose of grading exported goods, or for the purposes of controlling and marketing such goods. Sir Granville Ryrie concluded that as New Zealand was' not represented at the conference; he was authorised to say that its Government desired to consider the agreement in its final form before deciding on giving adherence to it.
