THE BIG FIRE.
* LITTLE EFFECT ON EMPLOYEES. Now that the position has been thoroughly investigated, it is stated that the big Sunday blaze at Aulsebrook and Company's factory will not throw many of the employees out of work, even temporarily, and there will be no necessity to put off hands per- . manently. All hands will probably b* back at work next week. : The fire destroyed the packing ana j storage space in the building, but the machinery throughout the factory h intact, with one or two, exceptions in that department, and manufacture will not be held up once the debris is cleared away. Most of the girls in the packing department will be out of work for a few days while temporary accommodation is arranged for this section of the factory's industry, but it may then be necessary to take, on extra hands, rather than turn any off. - A fireman is still stationed at the factory with a hose ready in the event of a fresh outbreak from the smouldering debris, which is being rapidly cleared away. .
