PENINSULA SHOW.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
The committee of the Banks Peninsula A. and P. Association met last week. Present: Messrs S. W. Birdling (president), J. V. Chapman, J. Johnson, T. Stewart, ;E. Fancy, Leo. Fahey, A. E. Birdling, G. E. Murray, A. V. Hutchinson, A. W. Harris, ?" \ EWinff. and T. Mould. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. v #°"'Somery, W. H. Taylor. J. R. White, N. K. Macfarlane, and W. A. Fairweather. _ of sympathy with Mr L. Webster in the death of his wife, and with Mr C. Bradley in the death of his brother, were carried in /Silence, members standing. Resignations were received from Mrs W H. Mongtomery, Mrs Cowan, and Mr Geo Pettigrew. v , '
Miss Hilda Montgomery was elected a lady member of the Association, and Sir Bruce Stewart, Bart., a life member. The Canterbury A. and P. Association wrote enclosing a report of the Agricultural Committee regarding horse breeding, and enquiring if the Association were agreeable to a conference being held. It was decided to reply in the affirmative. Tt was agreed that Messrs H. Matson and Co. be written to and thanked for again offering their yards for use on show day, also the Wairewa Co-inty Council for again granting the use of the county office on show day.
A letter was read from Mr T. Gee suggesting that a class should be added in schedule for champion pony.—Referred to next annua! meeting. A telegram was read from Mr Cooke (wool instructor) offering to give demonstrations on certain dates. Mr F. G. Birdling said he would be shearing at the time, and offered his shed for the purpose of the demonstration. It was agreed that a demonstration be held at 2 p.m. on November 7th. The Ellesmere Pipe Band was engaged for show day. It was decided that tenders be called for making and supplying 150 trestles. The secretary reported the following judges had been appointed:—Stud and crossbred sheep. Mr W. Cunningham; fat sheep, Mr J. Clarkson; drought horses, Mr B. Ferguson; military horses, Colonel J. H. Stafford; light horses. Mr G. N. McLean; harness horses, Mr M. Bethell; cobs and ponies, Mr W. Doyle; milking shorthorns, Mr "ft. Peach; Jersey and Guernsey cattle, Mr Geo. Gould; Friesian cattle, Mr A. F. Stocker; dairy cattle, Mr J. Parlane; fat cattle, Mr A. J. Keith; cookery and domestic, Mrs R. J. Black; potatoes, roots, and seeds, Mr W. J. Jenkins; working bullocks, Mr J. Jones; dogs, Mr W. A. Banks; junior classes, Mr E. H. Andrews; roses-, Mr W. Jones; other flowers, Mr James Young.
