ELLESMERE GUN CLUB.
There was a largo attendance of ladies, as well as a good muster of shooters, at the annual Ladies' Day ehoot conducted by the Ellesmere Gun Club.
Twenty competitors participated in the chief event, a match of 15 clays, tlie scores being as follows:—J. "Winchester 15, E. A. Washbourne. 15, W. Winchester 14, G. Nairn M, B. Donald 14, F. L. Graham 14, W. Patterson 14, L. Hantz 13, D. L. McGregor 13, W. K. Donald 13, E. Thian 13, K. G. Power 12, D. H. Eeid 12, A. Thian 10, L. C. Lemon 10, E. Donald 10, S. Vince 9, H. Stephens 9, W. Gilbert 9, T. Gordon 8. In the shoot-off between Washbourne and J. Winchester, the latter missed liis first birdrand Washbourne broke his and took first prize, a. trophy given by Mr D. Jones, besides a prize "for the best first-barrel performance. Winchester received Tisdall's trophy for second prize. The five men with 14 on shot off for third prize, the D.I.C. trophv. B. Donald missed his first bird, Cnaham his third, and W. Winchester his sixth. Nairn broke ten with his first barrel and missed his eleventh. Patterson shot uis eleventh and took the prize. A trophy jriven by Mr K. Mclntyre for the best performance off the 11 to 12 yards marks whs won bv B. Donald.
"In a six-bird sweep there were 19 shooters. A. Thian, G. Nairn, W. Gilbert, B. Donald, E. G. Power, and R. Thian scored possibles and divided the prize-money. Those with five on were E. Washbourne, H. Stephens, L. C. Lemon, E. Donald, F. L. Graham, D. L. McGregor, and W. Patterson. There were eleven 6hootor3 in an American 6weeo. F. L. Graham won with all on, L. C. Lemon being second and E. Washbourne third. Mr W. E. Donald was referee. Mr H. 1, Stephens handicappcr, and Mr J. A. Gue3t scorer. The president. Mr L. C. Lemon, extended a cordial welcome to the ladies, and assured of the pleasure it gave the club to sec •'. '■• interest in the shooting. Yesterday at' tie club was defeated by Methven bv ill points to 108 in a match for the C.A.C". Cuo. This is the ifethven Club's first win in a match for this trophy, and it will now be eligible to compete in the final shoot for permanent possession.
