NEW YORK, October 22. The MeAndrew trial, in which the Mayor of Chicago charged Schools Superintendent MeAndrew with disseminating British propaganda, has developed both farcical and serious features to such an exteut that it has begun to attract attention in a similar m "" ne !L to the Sco P e * evolution trial. Mr William Thompson, Mavor of Chicago, has appointed a representa- - ■ tO J?? rus6 all the history volumes in the Ciiicago Library and to exnunge those- containing evidence of riritish propaganda.
victoria headed a movement in which every noted living British writer contributed towards the reconstruction of the library after the tire in 1871, the Sovereign herself autographing one volume as follows :
"Presented to the city of Chicago, towards the formation of a public library after the fire in 1871. as a mark of English sympathv, bv her Majesty Queen Victoria." " Representatives of ail the German societies in Chicago to-day presented Mr Thompson with communications, supporting him in "the war on King George of England," and condemning those who take his defiance to the British Crown facetiously.
