PICKETS IN PRISON.
* COLORADO COAL STRIKE. (BI CABLE—MESB ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTKALIAN AND N.2. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) NEW YORK, October 21. A message- from Walsenburg, Colorado, states that the deputy sheriffs made a surprise attack on Industrial Workers of the World pickets at the coal mines in that district- and arrested forty-seven men and seven women, who were charged with violating the State Anti-Picketing La.w in connexion with the coal strike. The pickets in Court sang their battle song "Solidarity." The strikers will continue to picket the mines, and claim that they will be able to do so undeterred soon, because the gaol is only capable of holding fewer than fifty prisoners. Throe additional mines have, now closed, and 200 more miners have enlisted as pickets.
WOMEN ARRESTED. (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received October 23rd, 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 22. A Walsenburg telegram states that standing shoulder to shoulder with their menfolk, the women enrolled in the Industrial Workers of the World advanced upon a group of twelve mounted armed guards at the local mine, hurling stones and inviting them to battle. Sixteen women were arrested with thirtv men pickets, the former refusing to accept their freedom when the Sheriff offered to release them unless the men were likewise liberated.
