BAND OF HOPE UNION.
COMPETITIONS. The competitions in connexion with the Band o£ Hope Union were continued in the St. Paul's school hall on Saturday evening. An enthusiastic and largo house greeted the competitors. The results are as follows: Concerted Recitation, Section 11., own selection —Knox, 79 per cent. ("The Hope of our Native Land") 1. Also competed: St. Paul's and Edgcware. Recitation, Class D, Ladies, Union selection, "What Wo Can"—Miss Edith Muagrove (Knox) 1. Also competed: Misses Alice Ohapman (Durham street), Eva Barnham (St. Paul's). Song in' Character, Section II. —Recalls: Doris Donnelly (St. Paul's), Jean Thomson (Edgeware), Ewart Douglas (St. Paul's). Recitation, Class D, Gcntlomen, Union selection, "What Wc Can"—Mr S. J. Rowe (Linvood 1.0. R.) 2. Musical Monologue. Section 11., own selection—Miss Hazel Shier (Durham street), 81 per cent., 1. Also competed: Kathleen Chappel, 79 per cent., Edith Musgrovo (Knox), 75 per cent., S, J. Rowe. Recitation).' Class B, Girls, Union selection, "When Shall We Win?" —Doris Donnelly (St, Paul's), Joan Hughes (Durham street), Shirley Cook (St. Paul's), Edna Henderson (Philipson 1.0. K.). , ■..-,. The competitions will he continued in the St. Paul's School Hall this evening, when the following sections will be competed, for:—Pianoforte solo.'Olass B; Recitation, Class 0, girls: vocal solo, Class C, girls. The vocal class is one of tho sections which count towards the vocal scholarship presented oy tho Christ-church Competitions Society.
