SCHOOLBOY'S DEATH.
NO SATISFACTORY EXPLANATION [THE PKBBS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, October 22. An inquest into the death of Allan Terence Watkins, aged 13, a pupil of the -Kotriuii Junior High School, who,was found hanging dead in a coalshed at his home, £2 JJurnley terrace, Mount Albeit, was held to-day before the Coroner, Mr F. K. Hunt. No satisfactory explanation was given for tho boy's act. rfelina Daphne Th'omasseu, a sister of. the boy, said that he was a happy and obedient child, although lie had often complained about school work, especially sums. She had not spoken to him yesterday, but about 4.30 p.m. his little brother came inside and said that Allan was dead. She went into the coai-shed and found him hanging from a rafter with a strap round his neck. His hands were also tied behind him. The Coroner: What did he read ? "Witness: He was very fond of Western yarns. The seven-year-old brothor said that Allan had asked him to tie his hands behind his back, but witness refused. Allan then told him he was going to kill himself. Mrs Thomasssn then asked, that further enquiries should be made. She said that it would been impossible for the boy to have tied his hands and she was impressed by the fact that his playmate had tried to get possession of the strap by which the boy was hanged. The inquest was adjourned to enable further enquiries to be made.
