ATHLETICS.
KOWAI CLUB. The annual meeting o£ the Kowai Athletic Sports Club was held at Sefton, Mr J. Ashworth presiding over a good attendance. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £BO 5s 7d, which included £3 lis Sd made during the current year. , The president, in his report, outlined the important events of the year, and tendered thanks to all helpers and those who gave trophies, etc. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing, year: Patron, Mr G. Kelcher, M. Dando, G. James, D. Binnie. A. Ashworth, A. McNally, D. Miller, J. FitzPatrick, T. Collie, and the secretary; auditors, Messrs D. Binnie and D. Miller. It was decided to hold a euchre tournament on November ,19th, and the following subcommittee was set up to make arrangements: Messrs D. Binnie, A. Ashworth, D. Miller, F. H. Ford. J. FitzPatrick, FT James, S. Ashworth, J. Ashworth, and I. Champion, acting as secretary. Correspondent was received from the Centre, giving permission to hold the sports on Easter Monday, 1928, and to hold the twomile Canterbury cycling championship. A letter was received from the chairman of (he Sefton Domain Board, thanking the club for its donation towards the domain funds.
