TOO MANY TEACHERS.
POSITION IN HAWKE'S BAY. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NAPIER, October 21. . Unemployment is probable in the ranks of teachers in Hawke's Bay next year, and the matter was under review at a meeting of the /Hawke's Bay Education Board to-day. The secretary, Mr W. L. Dunn, reported that over 40 local teachers will be unable to obtain positions from February Ist, 1928, which is about double the number who could not obtain permanent positions at the beginning of 1927. In- reply to the chairman (Mr J. C. Thomson), the secretary said the position looked like being general throughout New Zealand. No action was taken, it being left to the Department to meet the position, "the secretary having assured the Department that the Board would cooperate with it in any steps taken.
