BOYS' LEAGUE MATCH DRAWN. ELLIS SCORES A CENTURY. (SPECIAL TO THE PBSBS.) •WELLINGTON, January 18. The Boys' Leaguo (under 16) cricket match was continued to-day. Riddle and King put on 140 for the third wicket, but after they left the scoring slowed down, and Canterbury were all out at 12.40 for 246. Following on, they had nine for no wickets at tho lunch adjournment. During lunch, Mr C. G. Wilson, president of tho Wellington Boys' Association, welcomed the visitors and gave them some good advice on cricket. Mr C. S. Johnston replied on behalf of the Canterbury boys. On resuming after lunch, Riddle, King, and Ellis carried the score along, and when time was called Canterbury had six wickets down for 242, the match thus resulting in a draw. Scores:— WELLINGTON. BOYS' ASSOCIATION. The following havß"becn selected to play for the Canterbury Boys' Cricket Association under 15 team against tho Veterans' tomorrow:—E. E. Grenfell, M. H. Gray, K. H. Macartney, D. Tho game will be played at Hagley oval, and will commence at 2 p.m. A practice for all under 15 boys will be held this afternoon at Hospital corner at 2 p.m. The junior representative team to play against Malvern on Saturday, will be selected after the game against the Veterans'' to-morrow. Tho senior (under 16) tcain next Saturday will play a match against R. D. Benjamin and Co. Lawrence, commenced a two days' match against a North Otago representative team at the Waitaki High School erountl to-day. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association met last night. Present: Messrs R. B. Ward (chairman), W. H. Winsor, H. M. Ohrystall, M. 0. Sinclair, W. h. King, J. Vf. R. Smith, C. S. Thompson, R. H. North, and R. Burns (socretary). The Brabin Shield. An invitation was received from the Wellington Cricket Association for Canterbury to play Wellington on March 16th and 17th, or 17th and 18th, for the Brabin Shield. The matter was held over until next meeting. With regard to the nomination of Canterbury players available for the English tour, it was decided to select the players available as soon as possible. Dates' for Southern Tour. Fobruary 4tb, sth, and 7th were agreed upon as tho dates for the Canterbury-Otago Plunket Shield match at Dunedin, Tho team will play South Canterbury at Timaru on February 2nd and 3rd. ' Mr M. 0. Sinclair was appointed manager for tho southern tour. It was decided to ask tho Canterbury Boys' Cricket Association to forward its proposed colours for approval. It was reported that the profits of the Wellington and Auckland matches were £lO5 and £l2O respectively. * > . The Declaration Rule. Mr Burns said that now the new postponement rule had come into force, the declaration rule should be altered, so that a team could declare at any time, instead of enforcing the rule requiring a declaration not later than one hour forty minutes prior to' the close of the first day's play. As it was now, there might be only one day's play for a match. It was decided to hold the matter over until next season. Mr F. J. Shacklock's resignation as coach was accepted by the committee. COMBINED PRESS CLUB. A match between tho married and single members of the Combined Press Club will be played- at South Hagley Park to-morrow (Thursday) afternoon, commencing at 2 o'clock. Maiden, and Canon Wilford. FIRMS' MATCH. Playing at St. Albans Park, Economic defeated Beaths, Ltd., by 51 runs. Economic made 107 (Howarth 46, Berry 24, Jagol 12, Cook 11), and Boaths scored 56.
