QUEEN ADOPTS WAIF.
"LITTLE ARTHUR'S" GOOD FORTUNE. (mom oub ow* coreespokdent.) LONDON, November 26. The Queen is to send a little waif, named Arthur, to a well-known school, where he will be educated and brought up at her expense. Recently the officials of the Church of England Waifs and Strays Homes were asked to send her Majesty a list of deserving cases. The fullest details were supplied, and the Queen's choice fell upon Arthur. The announcement of the Queen's intention was made by the Rev. Dr. A. J. Westcott, general secretary of the Waifs and Strays, in a speed) at Bath Guildhall. "The Queen's kind action is typical of the interest which Royalty takes in the society," Dr. Westcott said to a "Daily Chronicle'' representative. "It is a great compliment. "I can tell you nothing more at present," he added. 'Had I known that the news would get about T should have said nothing, and the Queen's intention would still have been a secret. Still, Arthur is a lucky boy."
