ENGINE BREAKS DOWN.
+ TRAIN ARRIVES LATE. Trains on the Ashburtoii-Christchureli Jiiie were held up yesterday morning, much to the inconvenience of passengers, when the 8 a.m. train between Ashburton and Christchurch broke down. The break-down occurred between Dromore and Chertsey. Several trains we're delayod. The engine drawing the train was being sent to Christchurch for repairs. The Invcrcargill goods express was following the Ashburton train and the engine on the goods train was transferred to the passenger train, which'arrived in Christchurch over an hour late.
