COUNTY COUNCILS.
MOUNT HERBERT. The monthly meeting of '.he Council was held recently. Present: C'ra. V. J. R'fhfield (chairman), E. "W. Cray, K. W. Coop, R. A. Anderson, Geo. Steele, Keg. Gobble, and K. J. Candy. Tho chairman moved that :<■ Is tier of condolence be forwarded to Cr. Gcllety expressin? tho members' sympathy with him in his bereavement. Tho motioa was earned in silence, members standing. Tho chairman reported that ho deemed it advisable to erect ft new bndgo tor the Viceon Bay road, with eoucrfle walls and hardwood timber. The Council resolved to carry out the work as soon a? the truffle with the. milk and cream eased off. Tho chairman of tho Executive Committee in connexion with the Koya.l visit, wrote asking for a contribution to the fund. The Council voted £lO 103. Tho Department of Labour wrote couccrn--1113 the shop* weekly haif-hohday. The Council decided upon Wednesday a-s in previous years. Tho financial statement showed a debit balance at the bank amounting- to £1633 13s lOd. Rates paid since last meeting totalled £79 85 2d, and rates outstanding wero £1428 0s Id.
