A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
MEETING AT RANGIORA. A meeting of tho General Committee of tho Northern A. and V. Association was held recently tho president, Mr C. Mcintosh, in the chair, and seventeen members were present. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr C. E. Skevington and family in the death of Mrs Skevington, all present standing in silence. Mr G. G. Denniston, secretary t° an " terbury A. and P. Association, wrote notifying the committee that, the date of the annual ram fair had been fixed for March 21th and 25th. The secretary of the Technical School Board wrote appealing for a continuance of the financial support accorded in tho past, and also enclosing -a copy of tho subjects taught, with a statement of the results. It was decided that the Association could not make any grant his year. Mr C. Orbell, president of the Canterbury A. and P. Association, wrote inviting the support of the Association in their effort to cancel an arrangement made by the New Zealand Woolbrokera' Association and the New Zealand Woolbuyers' Association, to have all lots of wool of three bales, which were not super wool, sold ae star lots. It was decided to support the Mayfield Association in approaching the PostmasterGeneral with a view to getting eome reform in regard to the payment of telephono toll charges in the country districts. Mr R. G. Wolff wrote tendering his resignation, which was accepted. Dr. L. M. King, and Messrs W. Bowman, F. Howard, and 0. M. Evans were elected members of the Association, and one nomination for membership was received. The treasurer's statement showed the receipts, including £204 63 2d brought forward, to be:—General account £9B Is 4d, hall account £7 10s, total £309 lis 6d, and payments £589 33 10d, leaving a debit of £279 7s 4d.
It was decided to hold the field roots competition again this year, and Messrs W. A. Banlas, J. D. Wyllie, W. Stalker, J. Stevenson, A. D. Hassall, C. Mason, and R. Mcintosh were appointed a sub-committee to carry out the arrangements. At the close of the general meeting the sub-committee met. It was decided to approve of the same scheme as last year; the 6am© area, from the Waimakariri to the Waipara, was also approved. An additional class was added for the test crop of green feed, to be divided into two sections of 10 acres, for land up to the value of £ls per acre, and 5 acres for land above the £ls valuation. It was decided to ask the Agricultural Department again to provide the judge for the competition.
