FIREMAN STEALS SUIT CASE,

WELLINGTON, January 12,

The theft of a suit-case and contents valued at £2O, the property of Milroy Smillie, was admitted by James Kooney, a fireman, aged 33, in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon. Chief-Detective Ward said accused took tho ease from the chief engineer's cabin of the Mahcno yesterday afternoon. The engineer later found it hidden in the bunkers. Mr W. G. Kiddcll, S.M., imposed a fine of £3, in default 21 days' imprisonment.
