NEW TRAM TRACKS.
GOOD PROGRESS MADE,
For some time past the Tramway Board has had some fifty men employed on the new tram linos on Bealey avenue and Barhadoes street, and great advancement has been made in the work. It is estimated that the new line in Barbadoes street will be finished about the end of next week, but that in Bealey avenue will not bo completed for nearly two months yet. It is intended to have a single track in Barbadoes street, and a double track in Bealey avenue. This alteration will greatly speed up the system on the St. Albans line, and eliminate the de» lays caused by the older loop system. There will be one loop only on the line, at the corner of Edgeware road and Barbadoes street.
Reinforced concrete foundations are being placed under the new lines. The present lines in Bealey avenue and Barbadoes street are to be discarded entirely, and new tracks substituted.
The overhead line support posts on the Bealey avenue track are being removed, and new posts are being erected further back from the road than the previous ones.
