ELECTION OF COUNCIL.
CONVOCATION NOMINEES,

WELLINGTON, January 6.
The following nominations have been received to date for the five members of the New Zealand University Council who are to be elected by the General Court of Convocation on the 21st inst.: Professor J. Macmillan Brown, formerly of Canterbury College, who has been on the Senate since 1877, He was elected Vice-Chancellor in 1916, and has been Chancellor since 1923.
Mr J. Caughley, M.A., who graduated at Auckland University College, and has just retired from the post of Director of Education, fie was ex officio a member of Senate.
Mr F. A. de la Mare, BA„ LL.B., a graduate of Victoria College, who has been a member of Senate since 1919, and was elected by the District Court of Convocation of his college. He took a prominent part in the student activities of his day. He is a member of the Hamilton High School Board. Mr C. M. Gilray, 8.A., who graduated in 1907 in the University of Otago, and was subsequently elected to the Rhodes Scholarship for that year. After taking his degrees at Oxford he was admitted to the Bar, but since 1923 has been headmaster of the John McGrlaahan College, Dunedin. Mr P. Levi, M.A., a graduate of the University of Otago with second-class honours in mental science. He is a leading barrister in Wellington, and has been chairman of tho Victoria University College Council for the last eight years. Mr F. Milner, C.M.G., a Canterbury graduate. He gained M.A. with firstclass honours. He has been for many years headmaster of the Waitaki Boys' High School and is a member of the Council of Education.
Mr G. G. Gibbes Watson, M.A., LL.B., a partner in the law firm of Messrs Chapman, Skerrett, Tripp, and Blair. He has been lecturer in law at Victoria University College. Both as student and as chairman of the Graduates' Association he has been closely identified with the interests of that institution.
Mr T. TJ. Wells, M.A., graduated at Auckland University College. He is on the Council of Education, the Auckland University College Council, and also the Education Board.
