The Toronio University conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws on Mr Bruce, who, in accepting the honour, said he regarded it as a symbol of admiration, friendship, and goodwill toward a sister Dominion in the Southern Pacific. He spoke of the desirability of a spirit of comradeship between the great seats of learning scattered throughout the Empire and emphasised the heavy responsibility falling upon those institutions,
