SEVERE DAMAGE.
FIRE IN WELLINGTON

WELLINGTON, January 5
Severe damage was caused to 3, onestorey wood and iron building in Edward street, off Manners street, by fire to-night.
Before tho brigade arrived on the scene, the flames had spread to the premises of 11. G. Knight, sailmaker, situated in Herbert street, parallel to Edward street, causing damage. Information could not be obtained tonight as to the insurance on the buildings or bs to the name of the owner of the building in which the fire originated. It is believed, however, that tho latter building was used ss a gymnasium.
