Air X. E. Pritehard. of llio H.M.S. Dunedin, spent the week-end with Mr and Airs Barrett, Milford. Miss Muir, who has been on a visit to Southland, returned Io Temuka on Tuesday. Air D. B. Muir is visiting friends in the South. Air W. Veiteh, who has been on a holiday to Dnucdiu, returned to Temuka on Tuesday, and is spending a few days hero before going on to Christchurch. Rainfall. I The December rainfall as recorded at tho Winchester School was 350 points on 11 days as compared with 104 points on eight days recorded in December, 1925. The total rainfall for 1926 was 24.24 inches on 112 days. The maximum shade temperature for the month was 84 degrees on the 12th, the minimum being 32 degrees on the 2nd. Bowling, j Two progressive pairs competitions were held on the local green on Monday, the leads' prize in the first being won by E. H. Taylor and A. Hope. •T. Harvey was the winning skip. In tho second competition, A. 11. Abbott won the leads' prize and T. Edwards and G. Pierce shared the skips' prize. Boy Scouts in Camp. LA meeting of the executive of the Business Mens' Association was held in tho secretary's office yesterday morning. Present: Messrs T. Knight (president), W. F. Evans, J. Davis, A. D. Cameron, G. H. Clements, S. Goddard, H. B. Strange, and B. Hughes. Formal business was disposed of and the secretary roported that no letter had been received from thp promoters of the meeting called in connexion with the statutory half-holiday. Messrs J. B. Sinclair and H. E. Gapper attended the meeting of the executive and it was unanimously decided to carry out tho wishes of the meeting held at the Parish, Hall, and forward a request to the Borough Council asking them to nominate Thursday as tho weekly halfholidav. The Wairewa County Council forwarded a copy of their hawkers' and pedlers' by-laws, and it was decided that nothing further be_ done until the secretary had communicated with the Geraldine Business Men s Association. Band Contest. The South Island Bands' Association has granted the application of the Temuka Business Men's Association to hold a B grade band contest J* Temuka at Christmas, 1927.
