Robert Fa!oon, a labourer, ch?rged with t breaking liis prohibition order, and with being drunk and Tho constable who arrested the accused said that he knew ' Faloon, who when arretted was "shap--1 ing up" to passers by, and had caught hold 3 of a girl's arm. On the charge of drunkenness lie was remanded for seven days under medical suptrvision, and the second charge Mas allowed ' to stand over in the meantime. 1 A first offender for drunkenness was 1 fined tlOs, in default -IS hours' imprison- : ! John Nixon, who had a 'one list of ' previous convictions, was, fined in de--2 fault seven days' imprisonment, on a charge , of drunkenness. L ' ASSAULT. I Richard Carney, iras charged with being found drunk, and with assaulting his sister-in-law. 3 Margaret Carney, an elderly -woman, ap--1 peared and gave evidence, that accused had i used his fists, and had generally knocked 1 her about. t Carney pleaded guilty to (he charge of , drunkenness, and not guilty to the charge of assault, saying that he was very drunk at the time, and remembered nothing about , the incident. On tho first charge lie was fined -Os, in 1 default 48 hours' imprisonment, and 011 " the second charge was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment. SATURDAY. 6 DRUXKENWESS. 1 rive first offenders for drunkenness were 2 each convicted and fined 10s and costs, in 3 default -1 hours' imprisonment.
