DUNSANDEL SPORTS.

VERY SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. One of the oldest of tho country sports bodies jn Canterbury, the Dunsandel Sports Association, has added yet another very successful gathering to the long list of fixtures held during a period of well over forty years. The meeting /took place on New Year's Day, in tho Domain, under very favourable weather conditions, and in the presence of a large number of people, the gate receipts amounting to £6O. Splendid entries were received for the whole of the races on tho programme, even tho post entry eventß attracting exceptionally large entries. For the open running and cycling races there was an average entry of 17 per race, which must be considered highly satisfactory, considering the number of sports fixtures held in various parts of Canterbury on Saturday. All the events were keenly contested, and the sport throughout was very interesting. The dancing events also attracted a good deal of attention. Music was provided by a party of pipers from Christchurch. A sum of £7 was distributed in prizes for children's races, which also attracted remarkably good entries. Among the interested spectators were the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C., and Mr D Jones, M.P. ' A medal given for most points in running waß won by H. S. Tomlinson, who gained 10 points, and P. G.
