PIGEON SHOOTING
METHVEN GUN CLUB. The Methven Gun Club held its weekly shoot on Saturday afternoon. In spite of a biting cold south-west wind, with occasional showers of rain falling, there was a large attendance of members. Conditions were not too favourable, .a strong wind making the birds somewhat tricky. The day's sport consisted of three matches. The first was for i silver cup presented by Mr D. McLeod, nd in this match T. S. Harrison and CO. Winn tied, with 11 birds, for first place. In the shoot-off the latter won in the third round.

Fifteen competitors took part in a ninebird handicap match for a trophy presented by Mr C. H. Ireland, with sweepstake added. This match was won by A. M. Hart with eight birds, A. The Styx Gun Club held ite monthly shoot on Saturday afternoon, the main item being a fifteen-pound sparrow match of ten birds, which drew fifteen entries. The winner was C. Jameson, who shot all his birds. A good performance was registered by Master P. Truscott, who shot nine out of ten with first barrel, the other falling out of bounds. Results were: — - . ■ Six-bird Sweep (13 entries) —L. A. Shand won first money with six kills, J. Simpson, W. Reid, and H. M. Wright, with five kills, dividing second and third money. £ls Sparrow Match, 10 birds (15 entries) —C Jameson, 1121121111—10 Ist; H. Ayers, 0111211111 —9, P. Truscott, 110111,1. XI! 9, ajid F. G. Frampton, 1111111201—9, shared 2nd and 3rd prizes. Six-bird Sweep (8 entries) —This sweep was shot off in a drenching rain, which accounted for the poor shooting. J.
