GBEYMOUTH, September 7. Detective-Sergeant J. B. Young, -who leaves for Christchnrch to-morrow on transfer,- was presented by the Police Force, with .a. handsome nig. Inspector W. Eccles, who presided on the occasion, praised the qualities of the guest. Mr A. Mosley, formerly of Greymouth, arrived from Feilding on Saturday to join the staff of Messrs Guinness and Kitchingham, solicitors. Ho succeeds Mr J. Saunders, who has resigned in order to enter into partnership with Mr E. J. Bundle. Mr J. P. Keesnan, of the Post Office, Christchnrch, is visiting Greymouth. Mr I. A. Jaincs, Superintendent of the State Mines, will return to Greymouth to-morrow. ~. .. Mr H. W. Kitchingham left for Christchurch this morning. Mrs S. Williams, of Reefton, has returned from Christchurch. v Mr and Mrs McKinley Jessop were accorded a welcome home at Paroa on Saturday evening, and were presented on behalf of the local sawmill employees with= a dinner set and an aluminium kitchen set. Mrs Lingard, of Aratika, has recovered - sufficiently from her recent illness to be able to leave the Grey Hospital. Senior-Sergeant P. J- McCarthy leaves to-morrow for Motueka. Later in the week he will proceed to Blenheim and Nelson on annual holidays. The funeral of the late Mr H. Emmett, which was held at Boss on Saturday, was attended by a jiumber of friends. The children of the State School, at which Mr Emmett was a teacher, marched in the cortege with other members of the staff. Mr.Brace Adam, Home Miasioner, conducted the funeral service.
