ROWING.

AVON CLUB. The forty-fourth annual meeting of the Avon Rowing Ohib was held in tho boatsheds last night, tiiero being a largo attendance of members present. Mr R. E. Kightingalo presided. • The report and balance-sheet (already published) were adopted. The chairman congratulated tho club upon having, for tho first time in its history, no liabilities. It was decided to send a letter to Mir T. H. Grenfell (Union Bowing Club) wishing him a speedy recovery. Tho following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr W. Lamb; president, Mr C. James; cinb captain, Mr C. A. Stiles; vicecaptain. Mr D. MoGibbon; secretary, Mr H. Q. Sties; vice-presidents, Messrs W. E. Clothier, A. T. Freeman, A. Fischer, J. Jackson, E, E. Nightingale, "W. W. Newman, R. B. Owen, W. A. Poison, J. Shucker, H. Stiles, F. H. Walton, "W". Williameoo, A. McLaren; honorary treasurer, Mr A. A*. Boot: honorary billiard treasurer. Mr A. Xrtixraore ; cnstodi»a, Mr J. toil ' Management Committee, Mesons E\ AgMsiz, F. Brettell, H. Brixton, L. Webb, G. Young, C. Itawrenoo, .TV. Browne; delegates to Canterbury Rowing Association, Messrs H. Berry and A. T Evans: delegate to Sporta Protection Association, Mr A. A. Boot; honorary auditor. Mr P. Harle; racing steward, Mr F. Agassiz; Press steward, Mr G. Tj. Young. It was decided to recommend that October 17th he the opening day.
