REDCLIFFS BURGESSES.
*• MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Redcliffs Burgesses' Association was held in the Redcliffs Library on Thursday evening, Mr S. I". Marshall; .the president, be ins in the chair. The committee set up to inspect the street lighting of the district reported that lights were needed in the following places:—Coiner Williajii and James streets, <Jelia street extens.on, near beach; Mam road, near school; Bay View io„d; Cave Terrace road, and top of Monck's fcpur road. The light at the Celift street tram etop should be ehifted. The report was adopted, and recommendations are to be made to the Council. A letter was received I'rom the Minister of Defence, Sir Heaton .Rhodes, stating that 110 money waa available for lencing olf the native tush at the back of the rifle ■range. The letter was received. The Sumner Borough Council wrete, in reply to lepresentations, thr.t the contract for the supply of electric current would expire next year, when the matter of charge for current wculd be The Council also advised that the points raised in icgsrd to the flood gates at Monck's Bay and the planting of the plot of ground at the Spur had been referred to a committee for report. It was decided to recommend the Council that, whei the contract expired, an endeavour be made to procure a supply of current from the Christchurch City Council on more favourable terms. A rrplv was received from the Tramway Board resarding tram farea. The rep'y was not considered satisfactory, and it was decided to take further action.
