BOWLING.
DOMINION COUNCIL. In its annual report the Council of the Dominion Bowling Association states .that the total number of clubs aifi'.iated now is 283, with, a total membership cf 15,034, an increase of 11 clubs and 643 members; This shows a healthy development in the ganlo of lowls, and illustrates its popularity with the jxoplo of ' the Dominion. Xnero is probably no other country where the proportion oi bowlers to the population is so yreai. There are iavourabie conditions for the maintenance of good greens, and this, combined with the fact that the game is within ihe reach of all sections of the community, accounts for its great popularity. The finances of the Association 'are in a healthy condition. The year commenced with a credit balance of £290 2s in the bank, £l6O in J?200 on deposit, and closed with a credit balance of £2lO 2s lid in current account at thfi Bank of New Zealand, and £SOO in "War Bonds, total A'7lo 2s lid. This is a reasonable .ei.ni for such an Association to accumulate, w.nd' whilo it is desirable to maintain a reserve, thero does not appear to be any necessity further to increase the amount. '
