N.Z. FORESTRY LEAGUE.

ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the New Zealand Forestry Lospue for the year ending March 31st states that at the invitation of the Keserves Committee of the Christehureh Ciiy Council members of the League paid a vir.it of. inspection to plantations on the Council's reserves at Bottle Lake in September last. A visit was subsequently made, at the invitation of the New Brighton Borough Council, to the Kawhiti Domain, to inspect tho planting of trees carried out by the Council. The committee arranged for an exhibit at the A. and P. Association's Show in November, and a very comprehensive display of locallygrown exotic timbers and conifers was made. The committee renewed its award of prizes for gates made by boys of the secondary •schools, and the exhibits of the young people were highly creditable. The financial statement show's that the receipts for the year, including the balance (£sl> lis) brought forward, amounted to £IS2 13s, while the expenditure, which included a payment to the head office on account of subscriptions for the previous year of ±'3o H>s, totalled ±Gt> 8s 9d, thus leaving a credit balance in the bank of i' 96 4s 3d. Since the end ot tnc financial year a payment of i' 4;'. has been made to the head olflco on account of subscriptions for 'the year 1024-25, while of tho subscriptions outstanding as at Marcn. 31st, 1025, a further Al2 has been received. The scheme of school endowment plantations which is being inaugurated in Victoria, Australia, by the Director of Education (Mr F. Tate) was brought before the committee during the year by Mr Deans. Tho proposals were considered likely to be effective, aud a summary of the scheme was prepared for publication, and has been distributed amongst schools. On March 7th, at the invitation of Mr and Mrs Jas. Deans, a large number of members of the League and friends visited Homebush, to see the fine plantations on the estate. The visitors included Mr F. Tate, the Director of Kducaticn for Victoria.
