INTER-BOROUGH CONTESTS.
EANGIORA V. KAIAPOI. A meeting attended by representatives of all the local sports bodies was held at Rangiora last night to consider the forming of an Association to take charge of the offer of Messrs H. Mcintosh (Mayor of Kaiapoi), and R. Mcintosh (Mayor of Rcngiora) to present a shield for interborough contests. Mr R. Mcintosh, who presided, explained that with a view to encouraging Bport and creating a more friendly spirit Between the boroughs, ho and his brother had decided to present a shield for annual competition the borough gaining the highest number of points each season to be the holders ot tho Eh On d ' the motion of Mr C. I. Jennings, seconded by Mr C. W. Tyler, it was decided to accept the shield, and a unanimous vote of appreciation was accorded tne °lt was decided that all sports bodies represented should form themselves into an Association to control the shield and that one representative from each affiliated club should be appointed to the general committee. .„ . . , The following committee was appointed: — Croouet Mrs Gibbs-Jordan; hockey, Miss Ivy Bevington and Dr. T. M. Allen; cricket, Mr H. K. Kippenberger; tennis, Mr F. D. Kesteven; bouis, Mr C. H. Hargreaves; fire brigade, Mr A. Prestney; rifle shooting, Mr D w. L. Mehrtens; golf, Mr W. Smith; hillinrds. Mr R. H. Bailey; miniature rifle shooUng. Mr J. P. Cook; football Mr C. W. Tvler; gun club, Mr J. J. Matthews; athle'tics, Mr C. Devlin; basket ball, Miss .Maurei. „ . £ . Mr 0. McHattie wbb appointed secretary, and the Mayor chairman of the committee. It was decided to meet the Kaiapoi Committee at an early date and to arrange the rules of the contest.
