HOCKEY.

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. Tho Management Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening. Present —Messrs H. W. Rogers (chairman), W. Gramraer, P. Hill, H. Sampson, G. Franklin, W. Bell, J. Hill, R. Cummings, L. Oummings, W. Kirkpatrick, C. Eix, J. H. Williamson, I. Davey, and L.L.Smith. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. Williamson and F. Faulkner. A motion of sympathy and condolence was passed with the relatives of the late R. SteVart, who died recently in Rannerdale It was decided to proceed with.the rolling of tho ground's at Hagley Park. The New Zealand Association forwarded particulars of the challenges received for the Junior Challenge Cup, the first match being arranged between Auckland (holders) and Wellington, Canterbury to play . the winner of the first match. . . The New Zealand Association also forwarded particulars of the shield tournament, and the Australian team's visit. l{ was decided to suggest that the board of the New Zealand players in the test match be a joint charge upon the test gate receipts. Tho letter also, asked for the nomination of three referees for the Canterbury v Australia match, and one for the test match, and it was decided to ask the Referees Association to nominate the referees. It was agreed to write to the Otago Aseociation asking for matches for the primary and secondary schools' teams at Dunedin. The Judiciary Committee reported having cautioned a player for injudicious talk to a referee and the secretary was instructed to write to all team captains drawing their attention to nnduo talking and appealing, and advising that it must cease.
