ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Church of England Men's Society was held at the Y.M.C.A. last evening. Mr C. If. presided ever a good attendance. Tho chairman, in his opening address, said the society was passing through very critical times at a time when materialism and selfishness wero biting deep into our li&tionai Jite. The crying need was practical Christianity. While Bolshevism, Communism and other such organisations were being unmasked, there was still evidence that the true spirit ot Christianity was uppermost. The "annual report slated that Mr (i, Snell, of the Wellington branch, had paid Christchurch a visit and had given the Society soma valuable infoimation. The Society had taken up the work of meeting immigrants and als;< of hospital visiting. Air l. U. Bucknell had represented the Society at the last Dominion conference at Auckland. • .' In speaking to the annual report, the Rev. F. D'unnago stressed the need for the Society interesting itself in social matters and matters of, general import in everyday affairs.

The Rev. J. F. Coursey strongly urged the need for increased interest in the Society. There was not enough life shown by members. This waa essential if the Society were to continue and flourish in this city. It was decided that the executive for the ensuing year consist of six laymen and four clergymen. Omcors were elected as follows:—Secretary and treasurer, Mr H. C;rdery; council, Re>vs. J. F. Coursey, F. Dunnsge, O. Fitzgerald, and S. Parr, Meesrs R. A. Bradbury, A Waiters, F. Carter, C. H. Clibborn, T. Taylor and T. J. Bucknell. Proposals' for the next annual conference which is to be held in Christchurch wero diucussed, and it was resolved to place the matter in the hands of the newly-elected executive. Arrangements veers made to JKKd a weekly prayer meeting on Wednesdays.
