LAWN TENNIS.

EDGEWARE CLUB. "In spite of unwelcome influences, over which the committeo had no control, the .past season was a good one, and the membership now stands at 217," staled the report of the tennis section of the Edgeware Bowling, Croquet, and Tennis Club, presented at the annual meeting of the section last night. The financial position was satisfactory, the report continued, but it had to be reauemcered that many monetary dirficu_ties had to bo overcome. At tho beginning of the season a large amount was owing on thj new courts, and the response to the appeal lor subscriptions had i.ot brought in tlu amount exj,eetod. Many improvements had been made to the euirouncungs of the courts, and thavcas wore due to Mr J. \oung for his assistance. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £719 13s 7d. ' "

The chairman, Mr H. A. Jarden, in moving the adoption of the report and balancsahect, congratulated the committee on the season's operations. He noted with pleasure tho good financial position of the tennis section, and tho bright prospects. In the course of three years, ass.ts to the extent of £1220 Gs 9d had accrued. This was particularly gratifying to members and a distinct credit to thofo wh» had been entrusted with the cdniinistration .of the section's affairs. Mr H. A. Jarden was elected the section's nominee for the presidency cf tho club, and Mr R. Grant was elected as nominoe for the vice-presidency. Mr Walter Boanland was re-elected secretary for the ensuing year, and Mr A. Boanland was re-elected treasurer.

Meßsrs J. Longton, W. D. Berry, and W. Beanland were appointed the section's delegates to the Lawn Tennis ■ Association. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Mrs E. TJren, Mis9:s E. G. Clark and D. Winny, Messrs A. O. Neate, W. J. Berry, W. Clothier, C. J. Uren, and A. D. Wilkie.
