NEW BRIGHTON TROTTING CLUB.

REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET

The following report and balance-sheet will bn presented at the annual meeting of members cf the New Brighton Trotting Club:

Your cc-mmitteo has much pleasure in presenting to members ihe balance-sheet for tho past year, ar.d congratulates them on the success of the year's operations, which show an increase over the season 19-23-21. Considerable improvements have effected to the course and enclosures during tho year. In last ycar'B report it mentioned that your committee had made a start to widen the course at the one mile and a half post—this has been completed, and consequently there is now no difficulty in handling large fie.ds in a first-cltss manner to the advantage of all the competitors. On account of the great expense of the scheme for watering the track, your committee has been compelled to let the matter stand over in the meantime; but there are two pressing matters which lequire attention, viz., the increasing of accommodation for outsido patrons and fencing on Marriott's road. Your committee also went into the question of retaining the New Zealand Derby Stakes on its programme, and, after careful consideration from a financial standpoint, and lack of support from owneie, it v/as decided to discontinue ths race for tho future, and tho 6Kme was orfered to the Canterbury Park Trotting Club, who have agreed to take over the race with all liabilities attached thereto. No other i-ominatic-n than that of Captain A. W. Owlcs having been received for the cffLce of president, there will be no election. No other nomination than that of T. H.
