MT. PLEASANT RESERVE.
TO THE XDITOX Or "TOBJ PMS9."
Sir,—l hope the Heathcote County Council will take, another step besides passing a vote of thanks to Messrs Scott Bros, for their munificent gift—viz., to ask the.donors' permission to let tho reserve be known as Scott 'Park. To anyone with a touch of the artistic temperament it is a very Interesting spot. On one side a sheer wall of rock is a study in many shades of grey, with a tessellatetf foreground showing red patches of hematite. Opposite the rock cliff are oold clay bluffs, which might remind an English homesick one of the white cliffs of Dover, only they are pale yellow. The outlook is the wonderful estuary view. The first time I saw that quarry and measured the width of it, I thought that here indeed was an ideal spot for several tennis courts, with a bowling green and. croquet at the lower end; each on its own terrace. I am convinced Scott Park would'quickly become the most popular playground in or around Christchurch. Take the left turn on tho new St. Andrew's Hill road, and you will sqe tho beauty I have been trying to describe.—Yours, etc*, : PETER TROLOVEJ
