NORTH BRIGHTON SCHOOL.
Tho two largo rooms, with the partition removed, was filled with children and parents on Thursday afternoon, tho children looking bright with expectancy of the pleasant time in store for them. A fine concert was given on tho gramophone re- • cently purchased for the school. While enjoying tho music to the full, the children wore also interested, in another item on the programme: a. presentation to their eeteomed headmaster and his wifo Mr E. Leaver, chairman of the school committee, in making the presentation, referred to the good reputation which Mr Wilson brought with him from tho West Coast and how he had proved himself worthy of that reputation. Ona thing: was lacking, and that was he was a, single man. This defect had recently teen rectified, and the children, teachers, and friends wished to extend to Mr and Mrs Wilson hearty congratulations and good wishes, and aak them to accept their gift as. a token of esteem and goodwill. The present consisted of a eilver-mounted oak tray, engraved: "To Mr and Mrs J. F. Y'ilson, from fichool children and North Brighton friends, 1925," end half a dozen china cups, saucers and plates. Mr Leaver also extended a hearty welcome to the new teachers, Mr Kingslcy Chappie and Misses Gibb and Armstrong, wishing them success in their important work. Mr Chappie replied en behalf of tho teachers, stating that Mr Wilson and all the 6taff would make it their aim to place the best interests of the child first. The Rev. W. F. Knowles, at the invitation of the chairman, extended a hearty welcome to Mrs Wilson, on behalf of the residents. Mr Wilson responded on bohalf of Mrs Wilson and himself.
