It was reported that an app'ication had been received for the establishment of a school at Evans' Creek, South TVeatland. Jt was decided to reply ihat in view cf the small number of pupils available, the Board could not entertain the reauest, and first the parents be recommended It- have the pupils taught under the Department's correspondence scheme. Buildings Committee. The Buildings Committee reported that a letter was received from the Moana School Committee agreeing to the Board's proposal to establish a central school midway between Moana. and Kuril to serve the scholars .of both districts. It was resolved that the chairman of the Board be asked to select a suitable site and that application be made to the Department for a grant for the erection of the proposed new school. An application was received from the Rotomanu. Committee for the provision of a teacher's residence, and it was resolved to reply that there was no prospect cf obtaining a grant for this -purpose. The Hornby Committee wrote regarding the ho.tting of tho school and suggesting that an improvement bo effected. It was decided to inform the committee that in approved cases a grant of one-third of the cost cf installing heating apparatus in schools was available from tho. Department, and that if it could see its way to provide the remaining two-thirds, an application would be sent forward.

Consolidation at the Duvauchelle Bay School was not recommended by Mr Banks, owing to the hiliy nature of the localities concerned 'and the difficulties in the way of arranging conveyance, which was considered practically impossible. It was decided to recommend the Department to proceed with the building of the schcol on the orisinal Hues. The report was adopted. Agricultural Committee. The Agricultural and Manual and Technical Committee reported a.9 follows: Letters relating to the Exhibition were read from the Duncdin Executive and from the Department. The supervisor repotted as to what had. been done eince last meeting and submitted ■a, circular which it was proposed to send out. It was agreed that the circular as drawn up should be sent out to all schools in the district, and further reports submitted at next meeting. A further letter was received from the Dunedin Executive asking for financial assistance towards the cost of getting up the Education Court at the Exhibition. A letter which had been sent to the Department was read, asking it to obtain an opinion from the Audit Department >as to whether or not such expenditure if agreed upon would be a legitimate charge against the Board's funds. It was recommended that this letter ba endorsed and that consideration of the Dunedin Executive's memorandum be held over pending a reply to the Board's letter from the Department.
