EARL JELLICOE.
SERVICES TO THE BOY SCOUT
MOVEMENT.
Appreciation of the services rondered by Earl JeUicoe to tho Scout movement in the Dominion is contained in the annual report of the Boy Scouts' Association (Now Zealand Section). It is as follows:
Wo cannot conclude our report with' put reference to the excellent servicoa rendered to the movement here by the lato Governor-General, Earl Jellicoe. We can honestly say that never before in the history of the movement have Ave had a moro conscientious Chief Scout than Earl Jellicoe. At all times, when visiting country towns and districts and local Association centres ia the larger towns, Earl Jellicoe has not spared himself to take the opportunity of meeting the Boy Scouts. By his kindly and earnest appreciation ha has endeared himself to every boy in the Dominion, and all must realise what a distinct loss his departure has meant to us.
Prior to leaving New Zealand Earl Jellicoe agreed to bo nominated to act as New Zealand 'a representative on the Imperial Council in London, therefore he is not ontifely, disassociated with the movement, and his lidvice should bo in* valuable to the Home authorities after the great amount of first-hand information gained by hirn during his travels from one end of New Zealand to the other as Governor-General. Whilst in Christchurch in October last, the occas'ion. was taken by the Dominion Executive to tender him a farewell luncheon and to officially thank him for his invaluable services to' the movement during his term of office in New Zealand.
