THE BISHOPRIC OF CHRISTCHURCH.

AN OFFER DECLINED, Yesterday morning a Sydney Sun Cable Service- message was received from London stating that Canon Clifford Woodward, Vicar of St. Peter's, Kensington, 1 London, probably would accept the offer of the Bishopric of Christchurch.

Howover, the press message is discounted by a private cablegram received by Dean Carrington. This message came from tho commissary of the diocese in JSngland, and was: "Woodward unable consider." There certainly was no ambiguity about the message, Dean Carrington added, and bo did not think that a mistake had been made id transmitting the message to him.
