RUGBY.
HIGH SCHOOL MATCH. The annual match between the Ashburton and Rahgiora High School*, played on the Show Grounds on Saturday afternoon, was won by Ashburton by 8 points to nil. Ashburton had the heavier team in both baoka and forward Tho latter dominated the play* The Rangiora hacks were more olevcr and nippy, and had Ashburton bustled ori ina-fly occasions. The game was very open and interesting throughout, and ■» good deal of back play kept the leather going from end to end. A crowd of about 250 watched the match. Johnston, an Ashburton. playfir, had a shoulder dislocated in- tho first half of the match. Boddington, Cameron, and Todd were prominent for Ashburton, and Pctima, Buckley, and Gainsford for Rangiora. Henderson scored a try for Aehbtrrton and Welch converted and put, over a penalty. Mr H. J. Chapman was referee. PRIMARY SCHOOLS. ' The following are tho results of the primary schools' football competition, played on Saturday: grade: East Ashburton 3, Borough 0. The Convent v. Twwald match was postponed; Allenton had a bye. Junior grade—Tinwald 6, East Ashburton <), Allcnton 6, Borough 0.
