SYDENHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
At tho June meeting of the Sydenham School- Committee thero were present— Messrs E. A.- J: Hoopsr (deputy-chairman), F. A. Frayle, J. A. Kean, C. H. Rintoul, H.. H. McCaw, T. H. Butterfield, J. H. Pratt, H. J. Hoddinott. An apology was received from tho chairman (Mr :J• K. Archer). The headmaster reported that the number on tho roll was 999, with an attendance of 924, or 92 per cent. The Education Board wrote stating that tho flagßtaff would be attended' to. . The winners of the Dux 'medals for the past year were: Boy, Robert Milne; girl, Olive Taylor. Winners .of Junior National: Scholarships: Robert Milne, , Fred Challis, and Olive Taylor. A circular letter was received from the Bible-in-Schoolsi League, asking tho committee to urge its member of Parliament to support Mr Isitt's Bill this coming session. The committee decided not to discuss the matter. It was decided to send to the Minister of Education a copy of the following resolution passed, at the annual meeting of householders: "That this meeting of householders of the Sydenham schcol district approve' of the school age being raised to 16 years, provided that assistance be given to' those whose financial circumstances would not aliow them to keep their children at schoo. to ' that . age." Messrs Frayle and Hoddinott were elected a Visiting Committee for the ensuing month. Mr Hoddinott resigned his position as a delegate to the School Committees' Association, and Mr J. H. Pratt was elected to the vacancy.
