The monthly meeting of tho New Zealand Golf Council was held this week in. Wellington. The statement,of finances showed',a credit at tho . Post Office Savings Bank of £314, whilst the account at the National Bank was overdrawn to tho 1 extent of £ls. The resignation of' F. M.. Dean, overseas professional, was accepted, he being advised that the Council regarded his action in declining to be assigned to'' work-in the South Island as a distinct, breach of his agreement. The final draft of tho'programme of. the tournament at' Christchurch, irom September 25th to October'3rd, was passed. The date of tho annual general meeting of delegates was fixed for September '3oth. The following clubs, which have been duly proposed and seconded for affiliation, were elected:- —Shannon Golf .Club ..(Shannon), Amuri Golf Club (Amuri), Waiuku Golf Club (Waiuku), Bay of Islands Golf Club (Kawakawa), Greytown Golf Club i. (Greytown). Enquiries have also been received from the To Puhe Golf Club, Kaikoura Golf Club, and the Gore Golf Club. It was resolved to circularise fn.ll particulars to all clubs with reference to Walker and Hall's team competition,; which is to be played oh September <sth or 12th, at the option of the clubs. The Hamilton Club advised that the dates I for the South Auckland tournament had been altered to September Bth to 11th inclusive.
PROFESSIONAL RESIGNS. (PBSSS association tilegbam.) WELLINGTON, June 12. A hitch has already developed in the arrangements by which the ■ professional golf teachers were brought out to. New Zealand. The Council of tho New Zealand Association called on F. M. Dean to undertake a three weeks' tour in North Canterbury, and he refused, claiming that his engagement was for the North Island only. Mr Abbott, who is away from New Zealand. was cabled. He replied that Dean's acceptance was unconditional. Nevertheless, Dean persisted that he. would give up his position rather than go south, and the Council accepted his resignation, informing him 'that it was greatly disappointed at his action, which was regarded as a distinct breach of the agreement.
