CASUALTIES.
1 DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC. An inquest concerning the death of a four-year-old child, John Robert Collistcr, who died under an anassthetic at the Christchurch Hospital when about to undergo an operation for adenoids and tonsils on Thursday, was opened by Mr Wyvern Wilson, District Coroner, yesterday. . George Alexander Collister, of. Black street, Kaiapoi, labourer, and father of the deceased, said his son came into the Hospital for an operation for tonsils and adenoids on the 10th inst. The child had been under treatment for a month by Dr. Ramsay, at Kaiapoi. Barring the nasal trouble his health had ueen good. To Sergt. MacNamara, witness said that before the child was sent to Christchurch Dr. Ramsay examined him, and said there was nothing to be afraid of, as his heart was sound. The inquest was then adjourned until 10 o 'clock this morning. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TZLIGEAMB.) . AUCKLAND, June 12. , Robert John Buchanan, married, aged- 45, a clerk in the railways office,, who boarded a train at Newmarket at 9 a.m., was found dead in a carriage when the train arrived in the city ten minutes later. He had been employed in the Railways Department for 30 years. A-post-mortem examination has been ordered by the Coroner. DUNEDIN, June 12.
William James Cochrane, aged 12, died in hospital from .injuries caused by being knocked down by a motor-car at Baldutha. v
