OUTBREAK OF FIRE IN HOSPITAL.
(press associatioh txlxgrah.) GISBORNE, June 12. Late this afternoon black smoke was seen issuing from the roof of St. Helens Hospital. The patients, under the care of the nursing staff, -were speedily removed. The fire brigade made a" very prompt appearance,, and it was seen the blaze had originated in the kitchen ceiling, the top of the wall being alight. Tho brigade made a smart save, : the fire being soou got under, but several rooms were damaged through water. The building is built partly of wood and partly of iron, and consists of twenty rooms and three wards. -
