CHOOSING A BISHOP.
*_ NO DECISION YET REACHED. The deliberations of Synod, which is at present engaged in the, important task of ckosing a bishop for the .Diocese of Chnstchurch, have advanced somewhat, and at tho present stage there are indications that a final decision will be reached shortly- The various nominations submitted are in the process or being pared down until :a certain number of names aro left. Wlien a particular person has bean I decided upon as being the most suit-' •ablo to fall the office, conference will adjourn until the next regular meeting of Synod, which takes place this morning, when the formal nomination will be made, in private. The invitation will be sent to the individual concerned, and it will depend upon his distance from Ohristchurch, o£ from New Zealand, as to how long it will be before a reply is Synod will adjourn again ufcitil thai reply has been obtained, and if acceptance is advised, the synod will not : resume. On the other hand, if a refusal is forthcoming, Synod will resume its deliberations. Synod rose without" reaching any decision, the evening having been spent chiefly in discussion.
