SUMNER SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Mr G. A.'-..Alexander presided over the monthly meeting of; the: Sumner District High 'School .Committee. Tho action of the chairman in securing a typewriter for the secondary department was approved. The report, regarding the engagement o. the parish room, temporarily, to accommodate one standard, was approved. The Education Board reported that it had approved of the request for temporary buildings, and that estimates of the cost oi making thorn useful for the necessary work were being submitted to the Department, [t was reported that arrangements had been made for Mr Rendle to meet the o'.d scholars, with a view to organising an entertainment in the interests of the school funds. Information had been received concerning the onening of the school in 1876, and it was decided to hold a meeting of the committee and staff to appoint sub-com-mittees and formulate a; suitable programmo for May' next. ,
