ESCAPE OF A PRISONER.

A prisoner named Walter Batterbee, who was serving a sentence of eleven vears' imprisonment for sexual offences, escaped from the New Plymouth prison this afternoon, and is still at large. Batterbee, who was one of a gang working near the gaol, was sent to the prison to procure implements, and used the opportunity to escape. •
