SWIMMING

N.Z. ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of tho New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last night, Mr H. S. Williams presi3ing. The principal business was to consider two notices of motions. Mr R. B. Wheoley moved: "That the minute passed on April Ist lielating to the re-swim of the Bryce Cup be deleted." The race was swum in February between the' East Christchurch and United Clubs. The cup was presented to East Christohmch, and an appeal was lodged. Mr M. E. Lyons lncved as an amendment that the matter be deferred till the meeting of the Ccuncil by the Centre's representatives. Mr S. Hollander moved as a further amendment that' the cup' be awarded to the United Club. Mr Lyons's amendment was defeated. Mr Wheeley's motion was carried. Mr H. Rich moved: "That the N.Z.A.S.A. rule governing the qualifications of competitors in Dominion championships be, adopted by the Centre in connexion with provincial championships." • • . The motion was carried unanimously. Tho ordinary monthly meeting was then proceeded with. The chairman and the secretary -were appointed to attend the next meeting of the New Zealand Council. In connexion with the Bvyce Cup, Mr M. E. Lyons moved that the matter, be deferred pending the next meeting of the Council. Mr S. Hollander moved aa an amendment that the cup be awarded to the United Club. A Some members- expressed themselves as desirous of having the matter settled that night. Eventually the amendment was carried by 10 rotes to 6. The cup will therefore go to the United Club. ; A sub-committee of three was set up to deal with the matter of running off the junior championships (which were postponed owing to the epidemic of infantile paralysis) as soon ;HB possible.
