' Mr F. M. Campbell (Christchurch )' is on a short holiday to London before leaving for Vesteras, Sweden, to ■ join the works of the.. Allmanna Svenska Elektriska.A.B., where ho will probably remain for' about two years to complete his training in electrical engineering. Mr Campbell is a recent graijuato School of Engineering, Canterbury Col-lege,-and. was with the Municipal Electricity Department prior to coming to England. When Lord Ampthill, Pro Grand Master, presided at, the Grand Festival of the Grand Lodge of England at Freemasons' Hall, ho was supported.';by Sir Frederick Halsey, Deputy Grand Master, and by a very largo muster of Freemasons', from all. parts : 6f : the Empire, Among tho appointments for , the, year were: Brevets, Mr W. E. Beth'uno (P. Deputy , District, G.M. Wellington), and Mr E. U, Just (Canterbury). Lord Ampthill, .who also presided at the banquet which followed, in proposing the toast of, the Grand Master, the Duke of Connaught, observed that by celebrating his 75th birthday the Duke had also celebratedthe golden jubilee of his admission into Froemasonry and his silver jubilee as Grand Master.. . ■ . After an absence of five years, Mr Lindsay B. Duff (Ashburton) arrived by the lonic, mainly to see his mother in Aberdeen, who had a serious operation , last March. He goes to Scotland next week after the re-opening of Wembley. ' Mr Owen Merton (Christchurch) is in London arranging an exhibition of his pictures, which will take piace at the Leicester Galleries this month. He has been in the. South of France and Algeria for the past two years,,where ho found many subjects for his water colours.
