ST. MARTINS RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the St. Martins ' Residents' Association was held last week. Letters were received from the Drainage Board and the Hospital Board. It was decided thai; a deputation of ;two members wait on the engineer of the Drainage Board regarding improvements to the drain in Hills road. Messrs Harvey and King were appointed a deputation. It was decided that a letter be sent to the Drainage Board asking them to allow two representatives from the Association to accompany them when they make inspection of the drain. Messrs Harvey and Evans were appointed as representatives. Mr Harvey reported on the inspection o£ the district by the Works Committee. Mr Jones moved that a Jotter be sent to the City Council drawing attention to their letter of November last regarding forming footpath and channelling on the city side of Hills road, and asking them to include it in this year's estimates. It was decided that a letter be sent to the Tramway Board asking them to stop all cars vx front of the sub-station opposite Hills road, as the present Btop is considered dangerous, especially to passengers alighting at night time. It was decided that a letter be sent to the City Council asking it to erect a wire and livo fence round the reserve in also to clean and lay out the reserve, with entrance gates in Hills road and Rata street. On the motion of Mr Holland, it was decided that the Tramway Committee meet to deal with the action off the Tramway Board in raising fares. Mr Jones moved that a letter-be sent to the City Council, asking it to call for tenders for the library to be erected in St. Martins. —Carried. The following were appointed to act bb a Library Committee: — Messrs Hurgfeaves, Jones, Yates, Alexander, King, Ha.rvey, Jind Mr Archer moved, seconded by Mr Young, that the Reserves Committee be approached regarding dressing sheds in Opawa Park. It was decided that a letter be sent to the Rugby Union, drawing their attention to the lack of accommodation for the Rugby players in Opawa Park, and to ask them ,to 'assist in raising funds for a drossing shed. It was decided that a letter be sent to the Superintendent of Police thanking him tor the effective maimer in which he had dealt With the vouths who congregated on Wilson's road bridge* A motion of thanks to Mr Manning for the use of his premises Was passed.
